A leader: what qualities should he possess: article by Mr V S Warrior

In this article Mr Warrior stress the need for a new professional leader to maintain a transparency in his decisions and actions. A comprehensive understanding of the area where he works is essential for the professional leader in being successful. He need not be dissecting every thing minutely to learn. Stability is most important quality.
A Professional leader should remember to be stable in his words to maintain trustworthiness in him. Decisions could be changed after deliberations. A person who makes no mistake never changes any thing in his life. Ignoring other's views as insignificant will loss the credibility`of the leader. If a leader admits his mistake he will be more respected everywhere. A subordinate might possess more insight into few issues than his leader. After hearing all differing views a true leader can take the appropriate decision. Always somebody will criticize a leader's decision. These criticism will hold no value if those decisions are taken after listening to their views. A leader can stay solidly behind the decision he took if all these factors are taken into account. Some times, a majority view may not be true. Those times a single person may have to be accepted as a majority. This happens when the majority holds an illogical view.
l leader should have the best communications skills. It is most important quality in a best personality. Explaining and selling a idea is essential in a leader's skills. He\she should observe and understand the various aspects of his subordinate's roles and responsibilities. A leader should believe in his effort and its ability to bring anyone\thing near to him.
S\he should do everything with concentration. S\he will have to listen to several things at a time. Ambivalence never sets things straight. Beautiful planning and individualized execution will reduce crowding in a days schedule. Writing down the days schedule is another method to create time for a leader.
Practicing concentration will sharpen it. Give what you can to others. Spreading light from a candle will not loose anything for the first candle. The second candle can spread more light too. A belief in success is an important quality. If a leader accepts the wins of others readily, it will encourage them and his followers. A leader should be the first in practicing discipline. It is not by directives or suggestions, but by his won actions a true leader establishes the discipline in his group.
